WHY ADE'S COMPETITION?
ADE is the ONLY Dance Competition that provides International Exchange Scholarships for the highest scoring eligible routines at Nationals.
ADE is proud to provide a supportive and comfortable environment where dancers can showcase their talents, receive constructive critiques from ADE Faculty and Judges, and enhance their skills through the process. Each routine will receive audio and written critiques.
Independents and Groups are welcome!
ADE offers two different levels for dancers to compete!
Gold Level (Beginner-Intermediate). Recommended for dancers with 0-3 years of dance training.
Platinum Level (Intermediate - Advanced). Recommended for dancers with 3+ years of dance training.
*NEW THIS SEASON* Any studio bringing 20 or more full paying group routines or more will receive ONE free group competition entry equal or lesser value to your smallest group routine.
Four age categories – Minis, Junior, Teen, Senior (depending on enrollment)
Time Limit: 50 seconds
Winner in each age category (depending on enrollment)
Winners receive a $50.00 credit for ADE conventions
Virtual Improv Preview
Ballet - technique with classical movement, reflecting a ballet style. Use of pointe shoes is permitted.
Contemporary - routine that draws from modern, lyrical and ballet movements. Maximum of 3 acrobatic skills permitted.
Jazz - technique with up-tempo music. Maximum of 3 acrobatic skills permitted.
Lyrical - style of Jazz & Ballet technique demonstrating clean, classical lines while emphasizing emotional interpretation of the lyrics in the music. Maximum of 3 acrobatic skills permitted.
Musical Theatre - style that interprets a song from a Musical, Movie or Broadway show. Can involve (but not required) the dancer(s) lip-syncing the words to the music.
Acrobatic – style of dance with acrobatics, emphasizing flexibility and aerial tricks.
Hip Hop/Street – style rooted in urban social dancing and often calls for the dancer to freestyle (improvisation) and can include breaking, popping, locking, crumping etc.
Tap - Any recorded tap sounds on the music track will be a deduction of 10 points. (Clogging routines should not be categorized as a tap entry but under “Specialty”)
Open - specific or combination of any style of dance.
Specialty - style of dance with a focus on a special talent: ballroom, ethnic/folk, character, song & dance, etc.
Minis (5-7 years old)
Juniors (8-11 years old)
Teen (12-15 years old)
Seniors (16-17 years old)
Adult (18 years old and up)
(The cut off date age for 2019-20 competition season is January 1st, 2020)

Music for all competition entries MUST be upload to your account in either MP3, AIFF, WAV, MPEG-4, AAC or M4A formats .

NO CD'S, USB Flash drives will be accepted the day of the event.
NO CDs, Flash drives will be accepted onsite.
All music is due ONE WEEK before the event date, missing music may result in disqualification without refund.
ADE does offer a single day convention option. However, dancers that are registered in the competition must be registered for the full weekend.
ADE allows unlimited competition entries with a maximum of 25 solos. If additional time is available, you will be notified in order to offer more solo entries.
Registration for COMPETITION will be closed ONE WEEK before the event date. Incomplete and/or unpaid registrations will not be accepted. The deadline for any changes on the entered routines is three weeks before the event. Early registration discount deadlines may vary due to holidays per event.
Our registration team will honor any first-time registration changes. After that, any additional changes to be done for our registration team will incur a $15 fee per change. These include:
Convention registration add-ons
Competition entries (title, style, level, etc)
Addition or deletion of performers
**There is an additional change fee of $35 for any requests in swapping competition entries less than 5 business days before the event and the cut off for any changes is 72 hours before the event.
**Dance studios may apply their own additional administrative fees for registration fees.
Registration cut off for CONVENTION is three weeks before the event date.
Entries will be received and accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. We recommend submitting your student routine registration as soon as possible to secure your spot!
No checks will be accepted onsite and up to 10 business days before the event date. All registrations must be paid in full before any deadline dates to lock in special rates. Cash or credit cards will be accepted onsite; credit cards are subject to a processing fee of up to 3.75%**
Teachers who own more than one studio may submit entries for each studio, as long as both studios are registered separately.
Live props are not allowed. Small props are welcome. No large scenery, dangerous or oversized props.
Registration fees for workshops and competition are non-refundable. Returned check service fee is $35.00
NATIONALS GRAND FINALE:
THE SHOWDOWN GALA
Contestants must receive a GOLD or higher at regionals within the 2019-2020 season to compete at nationals. If a contestant has not attended a regional competition, they may pre-qualify a routine during the preliminary competition held before nationals.
Who competes at the PRELIMINARY COMPETITION & FIRST ROUND OF COMPETITION?
Routines that haven't competed at our regional competitions and/or have not scored a HIGH GOLD or PLATINUM in the PLATINUM LEVEL LEVEL will compete first at the preliminary competition.
Who competes at the FINAL COMPETITION ROUND?
All the routines that placed a HIGH GOLD or PLATINUM in the PLATINUM LEVEL at a regional have qualified to compete at the final competition round.

At the end of the NATIONAL COMPETITION AWARDS, the highest scored routines from each category will compete in our SHOWDOWN GALA, where our artistic team will select a few student group routines and individuals who will then receive invitations and scholarship performance opportunities around the world.
