OBSERVER BANDS
We love parents at ADE and are happy to offer
the opportunity for you to observe our classes!
Observer Wristband Policy:
Pre-registration is strongly suggested as observer bands may sell out. If still available, they will be sold at the door starting on at early check-in. All observer bands are non-refundable and may not be transferred. ADE is not responsible for lost or stolen bands. You must be accompanying a dancer to observe (children five and under may observe free of charge). Please note: You do not need an observer band to enter ADE Competition, ADE Showcase or The Scholarship Ceremony. This band allows entrance into all ADE level classes.
NATIONALS COMPETITION INFO
ADE Competition the ONLY Dance Competition that provides International Exchange Scholarships for the highest scoring eligible routines at Nationals. ADE is proud to provide a supportive and comfortable environment where dancers can showcase their talents, receive constructive critiques from ADE Faculty and Judges, and enhance their skills through the process. Each routine will receive audio and written critiques.
ADE offers two different levels for dancers to compete!
Gold Level (Beginner-Intermediate). Recommended for dancers with 0-3 years of dance training.
Platinum Level (Intermediate - Advanced). Recommended for dancers with 3+ years of dance training
CATEGORIES:

Ballet - technique with classical movement, reflecting a ballet style. Use of pointe shoes is permitted.

Contemporary - routine that draws from modern, lyrical and ballet movements. Maximum of 3 acrobatic skills permitted.

Jazz - technique with up-tempo music. Maximum of 3 acrobatic skills permitted.
-
Lyrical - style of Jazz & Ballet technique demonstrating clean, classical lines while emphasizing emotional interpretation of the lyrics in the music. Maximum of 3 acrobatic skills permitted.

Musical Theatre - style that interprets a song from a Musical, Movie or Broadway show. Can involve (but not required) the dancer(s) lip-syncing the words to the music.

Acrobatic – style of dance with acrobatics, emphasizing flexibility and aerial tricks.

Hip Hop/Street – style rooted in urban social dancing and often calls for the dancer to freestyle (improvisation) and can include breaking, popping, locking, crumping etc.

Tap - Any recorded tap sounds on the music track will be a deduction of 10 points. (Clogging routines should not be categorized as a tap entry but under “Specialty”)

Open - specific or combination of any style of dance.

Specialty - style of dance with a focus on a special talent: ballroom, ethnic/folk, character, song & dance, etc.
THE IMPROV COMPETITION

Four age categories – Minis, Junior, Teen, Senior

Dancers will get to choose their dance style, the music is randomly chosen for each dancer.

Time Limit: 50 seconds

Winners receive a $50.00 credit for ADE conventions

EMERGING CHOREOGRAPHER AWARD
HOW IT WORKS

Submit any competition routine (solo through production) that highlights your talented choreographer, for an additional $35 (added to entry fee).

At each regional competition, the judges will select 2-3 finalist routines that display exceptional choreographic quality. There is no maximum of routines selected in a certain age group, genre, or category.

THE WINNER OF ROUTINE CHOREOGRAPHY WILL RECEIVE

Automatic entry to perform at the Showdown Gala and audition for a coveted spot in an ADE international exchange program.

At Nationals, the TOP 2 finalist choreographers will be invited to one of our 2022-2023 tour cities to TEACH and CHOREOGRAPH a routine on our Prodigy All-Stars!

The Gala is held on the last day of Nationals and will kick off with the red carpet. The evening is jam-packed with performances featuring Stage Workshop, Prodigies, All the Top 1st Overall Competition Routines from Nationals, Faculty Invitationals, Studio Of The Year Nominees, Dancer Of The Year Finalists, Emerging Choreographer Nominees, Competition Judges Choice routines, guest performances. The Exchange Programs
Qualifying dancers during the US National Event are given the opportunity to be hosted in another country and perform in accepting the country’s national dance festival! The countries involved are SPAIN, ARGENTINA, and LONDON!
The Dance Fest
Recipients and studio of the year finalists are awarded partial tuition to The Dance Fest Aug 2023.
ADE Convention Scholarship
Recipients are awarded free or partial tuition to any one of our Artistic Dance Exchange regional weekend workshops! This scholarship may be used at any one city on our 2021-2022 regional tours.
ADE Prodigy All-Star Scholarship
Recipients are awarded free tuition to each ADE regional weekend for an entire calendar year valued at over $2,500
Prodigies will also receive additional discounts for master classes, stage workshops,s and merchandise with our sponsors.
ADE Noble Prodigy & Dancer of The Year
Recipients are awarded free tuition to each ADE regional weekend for an entire calendar year valued at over $2,500 and assist our faculty on stage! In addition to FREE masterclasses, stage workshops, and a choreography piece at each regional event!
The winners of ADE Dancer of the Year will automatically be a:
-ADE Noble Prodigy for the upcoming season
-Assist the ADE Faculty on stage
-Receive 2-night hotel stays in each tour city for the entire 2022-2023 regional season!
ADE will be awarding 2 ADE Dancer of the Year awards each summer: 1 in the Junior Level and 1 in the Teen & Seniors Level.
In-Studio Workshop Award
$500 & $1,000 credit. Expires September 2023
